The heart of Emplifi's digital products

The Soul Design System is my passion, and it is the main project I have managed at Emplifi as the design lead and product manager for the last several years.

During this time, we have accomplished many things and overcome multiple obstacles. One of the biggest challenges was transitioning from Sketch to Figma and redesigning our entire design libraries, which was already more than seven years ago. This step opened the door to the design system world for me and was the very first step in creating a complex design system.

A few years later, we had our first version of the design system documentation. At that time, we used Dropbox Paper for internal access only and had also completed several base components in React. Simultaneously, we named our design system "Soul."

The next big milestone occurred in the spring of 2022. Along with two colleagues who collaborated closely on the design of the DS components with me, we formed a new team focused solely on building the design system and managing the entire UI of the Emplifi platform. This marked the beginning of my new role as a design lead and team manager.

In 2023, we made Soul a valid internal product and started a new phase for our design system.

My journey to growth

For more than seven years, I was part of the product design team, designing several Emplifi Platform products, including Dashboard, Content Hub, Publisher, and Listening.

The Dashboard was the first major product in Emplifi (known as Socialbakers at that time) that I designed. My responsibility was the entire UI and UX design of the features, as well as the overall vision for the product.

After many years working on the Dashboard, I moved to the Content Hub, a brand new product we started building to collect all content from social networks in one place. I faced several challenges, one of which was filtering the content. After experimenting with several versions, we built a universal and complex search component, which was eventually used in several products across the platform as a new pattern.

For Publisher and Listening, I was a co-designer, assisting my colleagues with design challenges and helping to set up a vision for the products.

Today, as I lead my team of great designers, we focus on managing the entire UI of the product and our design system. We have also taken on the role of the Design OPS team and the initiative to improve accessibility across the Emplifi platform.

Figma from A to Z with SKVOT Czech

In cooperation with SKVOT Czech, I prepared and led online courses to teach the Figma app to beginners. Each course aimed to provide students with as much knowledge as possible about every aspect of Figma, from fundamental usage to more advanced techniques.

In 13 lessons, we focused on basic tools and shapes, variables and styles, component creation, design libraries, auto-layout, sharing, cooperation, dev mode, and prototyping.

Lessons were interwoven with exercises to help students absorb the knowledge and techniques they learned during the classes. These home exercises were centered on a small project: a simple mobile app and a basic design library.

We ran two streams with more than 50 students over the past year, and I'm looking forward to another opportunity to share my knowledge.

Multibrand mobile app for Evenflo & Cybex

SensorSafe was an app for administering Clips for child seats. It helps parents monitor whether the child is safely buckled and whether the temperature is okay. It also helps to avoid leaving the car without the baby.

My role in the project was to design the entire application for iOS and Android and build a design library that needed to cover two brands, Cybex and Evenflo. This opened an interesting opportunity to create a complex system of libraries with the goal of saving maximum time when switching designs between brands and platforms.

My passion to make a great meal

With most of my day spent in the digital environment, I started to look for a change that would help me reset my brain and give me space to be alone with my thoughts.

After experimenting with several options, such as woodworking, hiking, and other sports, I found myself most relaxed while cooking. With a passion for pizza, I chose this path and began to discover the world of pizza with each new slice.
